In order to fulfill this mission, the 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization is committed to the achieving the following goals:

•Support teachers in their work and professional growth

•Encourage best practices in education

•Support innovative action that leads to academic excellence for students

•Support and stimulate the learning process for the children of Lafourche Parish

•Link community resources with school needs and school resources with community needs

LEF awards Paul Ruth Teacher grants of up to $1,000, School Wide Grants of up to $5,000 and Special Project Grants (as needed), to educators and schools who implement innovative and creative projects that improve student academic achievement. The foundation also presents “Teacher of the Year” awards to parish educators at an annual banquet, “Celebration of Excellence” and recognizes educators who achieve Perfect Attendance during the school year. Its primary fundraiser is an annual Gala held each year in January or February with notable guest speakers.
