Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Lafourche Education Foundation

A book a month. A love of reading for life.
We are the Community Partner for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for Lafourche Parish. Every registered child residing in Lafourche Parish from birth to age five receives a free, high-quality book in the mail each month.

Why the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Matters to Our Community
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is more than a book-gifting program — it is a powerful tool for early childhood literacy that transforms lives and strengthens communities.
A Strong Start for Every Child
Research shows that the number of books in a child’s home is one of the strongest indicators of future academic success. Through the Imagination Library, children from birth to age five receive a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book each month, mailed directly to their homes. This not only fosters a love of reading but also encourages crucial parent-child bonding around storytelling and learning.
Closing the Literacy Gap
For many families, especially in rural or underserved communities, access to books can be limited. The Imagination Library removes financial and logistical barriers, helping ensure that all children — regardless of background — are exposed to the vocabulary, concepts, and language development they need to start school ready to learn.

Proven Results
Studies have linked participation in the Imagination Library to higher kindergarten readiness, improved early literacy skills, and long-term educational gains. Locally, our program has already reached hundreds of children, with graduates entering school more prepared and confident.
An Investment in Our Future
Each $30 donation covers an entire year of books for one child. By partnering with the Imagination Library, your organization is investing in a generation of readers, thinkers, and leaders. Together, we can give every child in our community the tools to succeed — one book at a time.
